Phuket has long been the ‘jewel in the crown’ for Thailand’s tourist
industry, and has now in recent years become the yachting hub for
Southeast Asia. The islands and coastline running north and south
from Phuket are a true yachting paradise.

Phuket is also the largest and most diverse of the Islands of Thailand. During your visit you can experience Phuket Old Town, known for its brightly painted, century-old Sino-Portuguese townhouses and popular night markets or Patong for the more lively nights out with many bars and clubs.

Set in the Andaman Sea, which stretches from the coast of Myanmar for over 1,000 kilometres down past Thailand and into the fabled Straits of Malacca – the approach to Southeast Asia. It is home to maritime traditions that span millennia.

Phuket is located in the middle of the Andaman Sea, about halfway between Yangon (formerly Rangoon) and Singapore. The island is very nearly part of a peninsula that steps out from the Thai coast – a bridge connects Phuket to the mainland. The island is about 50 kilometres from north to south and 20 kilometres east to west, offering plenty for visitors to see and do, both offshore and on. Famous for the beaches, Thai hospitality and its colourful nightlife.

Phuket is known as the “Pearl of the Andaman”, with excellent weather, brilliant cruising waters, superb marinas, an international airport and absolutely first-class facilities, you can understand why so many people fall in love with Phuket and come back time and time again. The perfect location for people to Celebrate Marriages, anniversaries and special events with family & friends.

To the south of Phuket, close to Chalong Marina where Dallinghoo is often chartered from, you will find Nai Harn, boasting one of the best premier beaches on Phuket, its long stretch of white sand and shallow waters and the fact there are no water sport activities such as jet skis etc. allowed on this beach, makes it an idyllic spot for couples and families. Close by is the pretty cove beach of Ya Nui, great for snorkelling at high tide or hiring a kayak to explore the coastline.

The neighbouring village of Rawai with its famous seafood market, large selection of local Thai and international restaurants and bars along the picturesque waterfront make for pleasant evenings by the sea looking out to local islands. If you decide to relax into a private pool villa for some days prior to or at the end of your sailing adventure, Rawai is ideally situated to Chalong Marina.

Cruise Information for Phuket & South Thailand Islands

Most Thai cruises on board Schooner Dallinghoo will start from Phuket where guests can fly in to the International Airport and can either be met and taken the short distance to join Schooner Dallinghoo or relax and enjoy a few days first staying at a local villa and can be collected from there.

On starting your cruise on Schooner Dallinghoo set sail to explore the beaches and coves of the many small islands that spread throughout the Andaman sea, as you move further away from Phuket you can enjoy a range of trips aboard, you will then experience breath taking scenery; islands and bays with limestone cliffs covered with jungle foliage and many beaches of jaw-dropping beauty are everywhere. Rock formations that almost appear to defy gravity all set against amazing blue-green waters of the Andaman Sea.

Charters on Schooner Dallinghoo can start from Phuket to the Malaysian island of Langkawi, dropping anchor at Koh Lanta for the sunset or swimming off the crystal clear waters of Koh Rok Nok or Koh Lipe. Passing through Phang Nga’s limestone karsts jutting out of the emerald green waters past James Bond island to Krabi and the famous Phi Phi Islands. Such Islands have been chosen as movie locations.
